The Pieropan Christmas Tree Farm

The Pieropan Christmas Tree Farm
119 Pfersick Road

Just after Al and Mimi Pieropan bought their farm in Ashfield, Massachusetts, Al began planting Christmas trees in 1955. Incredibly, those first trees are still there, now gnarled stumps that have produced seven or eight trees by now, and are still going strong. Over the years, Al continued to plant until he had about ten acres in trees, divided into five different groves. The largest is the You-Cut grove, where families having been coming to cut their own trees, some for more than 40 years. The You-Cut grove is on the dirt stretch of Pfersick Rd.

In 2009, Emmet and Cecilia Van Driesche started taking over the groves from Al, and this year marks two important changes: we took over the remaining five acres of trees that Al had been working, and we bought a house!

If you are coming to cut a tree, please cut it from the large You-Cut grove down on the dirt stretch of Pfersick Rd. We are fulfilling all our wholesale orders from the other, smaller groves, and need to keep track of how many trees come from which grove. It’s all very complicated, so thank you for helping us keep it as simple as we can.

Our house is not at the farm, but ten minutes away. This means that if you come cut a tree when no one is at the You-Cut grove, please pay at the box by the cabin down there. Checks are fine.

In general, Emmet will be at the grove most days, unless he is delivering trees or wreaths. He will always be there on the weekends.
