About Us :
The Sullivan County Historical and Genealogical Society was created in July 1996 at Blountville, Tennessee.

Mission Statement :
The Sullivan County Historical and Genealogical Society is dedicated to the preservation of history and genealogy in Sullivan County, Tennessee and surrounding areas of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

History :
The group was initially organized as the Sullivan County Genealogy Club under the direction of Shelia Hunt at her residence, with 25 people in attendance.
The Sullivan County Historical and Genealogical Society is proud of its continuing growth. We are grateful for the many people who have been instrumental in helping our organization get off to a good start. We cordially invite you to join our organization in the interests of preserving local history and genealogy.
