About Us:

St. Peter Lutheran Church is located 23 miles northwest of Fredericksburg, Texas, in the picturesque Doss Valley, a rural community settled in the mid-1800s. Our congregation was founded in 1896 when the pioneers (mostly German Lutherans) saw the need for people of faith to have a place to worship. With more and more families homesteading in this beautiful Hill Country, a magnificent, native stone sanctuary was completed in 1913.

Since 1905, St. Peter Lutheran Church and Christ Lutheran Church of Cherry Spring have called one pastor to serve these two rural parishes. Because of the growing families and the vital continuation of Christian education, a large, split-level Parish Hall was built in 1947. The building contains a modern kitchen, office, Adult Bible Class and Children's Sunday School Class areas and rest rooms.
