Mission:

We, the Parishioners of the Catholic community of St. Joseph, are a people of God blessed by diversity of gifts to carry on the work of Jesus;

We commit ourselves to be a Eucharistic people gathering to worship and praise God;

We commit ourselves to be an Apostolic people enabling each person to grow spiritually, so that each can invite others to know the good news of Jesus Christ;

We commit ourselves further to use our gifts in serving each other with a caring spirit, reaching out to the needs of our families, our Parish and our community.

History:
St. Joseph Parish was founded in 1946. Bishop Edward Hoban appointed Fr. Joseph McGraw as the first pastor. Fifty acres of land were purchased. The community gathered and the first Mass was celebrated in the town hall.

In September of 1946, a temporary Quonset hut was erected for the Church. Elementary school buildings were constructed later. The Quonset church and school were extensively damaged by a tornado on Palm Sunday of 1965. The present Church was completed in 1964 with the most recent addition of meeting rooms, new offices, and a gathering space named the "Holy Family Center" completed in 1996.

Following the death of Fr. McGraw, Fr. James McDonough was appointed pastor followed by Fr. Robert Donohoe. In September of 1977, with the forming of a new parish in Strongsville, St. John Neumann, the parish school became interparochial. Bishop Hickey renamed the school Sts. Joseph and John Interparochial School.

Fr. Anthony Dodd was the next pastor from 1981 to 1991. Presently, Fr. Robert Sanson is the pastor.
