Ravenna Township

6115 S. Spring Street

About Us:

Ravenna Township Trustees, Pat Artz, Vince Coia, and Hank Gibson, Fiscal Officer Gail Pittman, the Fire Department Firefighters and Chief Mark Kozak, wish to thank the residents of Ravenna Township for supporting our levy, our homes, our families, our lives, and our community.

The Ravenna Township Fire Department has been operating off of a levy that was passed over 17 years ago. Over the course of nearly 2 decades, budgetary cuts have been made in order to make ends meet and to stay within our financial means.

History:

The flagpole in front of the Portage County Courthouse in Ravenna is a distinctive landmark that can be seen for miles and marks Ravenna’s downtown area. It was built in 1893 for Ravenna Township and the Village of Ravenna by the Van Dorn Company of Cleveland, Ohio. In the fall of 1923, it was moved to its present location on land that was donated to Ravenna Township by the Tappen family. In 1994, the estate of Ralph A. Hinman bequeathed money to Ravenna Township for the maintenance of the flag pole. The Township now uses the interest from this bequest to purchase flags for the flag pole.
