Providence Baptist Church

Beliefs

We must not approach our beliefs, doctrines and statements of faith as dry, dusty and irrelevant statements that have no impact on daily living. This is the heart of our faith. Our beliefs are the fuel for the fire of living for God. Without a strong understanding of our teachings and beliefs we will be weak Christians. Therefore Providence is committed to a teaching ministry that highlights doctrinal issues.

We are a Southern Baptist Church and being so we have beliefs that are in line with that heritage and tradition. Our confessions of faith are public statements to the world and our church members of what we see in the Scriptures as truth about the elements of our faith.

We affirm and attempt to uphold the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 (www.sbc.net/bfm/bfm2000asp ). This is the most current statement of faith that Southern Baptists have developed. But we would also find ourselves in great harmony with other statements. Such as:
  • The Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 (www.founders.org/library/bcf/confession.html)
  • Baptist Faith and Message of 1925 (www.sbc.net/bfm/bfmcomparison.asp)
  • Abstract Principles (www.sbts.edu/aboutus/abstract.php)
