About Us:

Vic Priapi was raised on a vegetable farm in Aquebogue, Long Island, New York. He graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science. He is a Maryland Certified Professional Horticulturist. In 1979 he began working for Angelica Nurseries, Inc. in Kennedyville, Maryland as the container plant grower. In 1986 he became the company’s propagator, growing more than 750,000 plants annually by cuttings, seed, and grafting.

His wife Mary also grew up on Long Island in Nassau County. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Nursing from Adelphi University in Garden City, Long Island, New York. She brings to Priapi Gardens expertise in accounting and business management. Having several highly-trained horticulturists on its staff, Priapi Gardens is poised to meet the growing needs of the gardening public.

We are all part of this fragile ecosystem we call Earth. What we do in our lives has a direct effect on our environment. Our close proximity to the largest estuary in the United States, the Chesapeake Bay, makes us ever conscious of this fact. As stewards of the environment, our goal is to grow and market the finest quality plants possible while being ever aware of preserving our ecosystem and its natural resources.

In our production practices, we use virtually no pesticides. This eliminates exposing our employees and most importantly, our customers to pesticides. We call this approach “Bay Friendly” as it also protects the Chesapeake Bay. We recycle all of our irrigation water through our catch pond which limits the amount of nutrients escaping into the Bay.
