Prairie Chapel is a missionary outpost of The United Methodist Church whose mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  As a local Christian church, we seek to fulfill that mission by walking closer with Jesus Christ.

History:
For over 150 years Prairie Chapel has been a place where people can find God and find a place to live out their faith in meaningful ways.
Prairie Chapel’s history reveals a steady working of God’s grace through the last several generations. The church was built on the foundation of Jesus Christ with the efforts, sacrifices, and prayers of many saints. Much do we owe them as they were few in number, hampered by wilds, without easy means of travel, but who continued to serve the Lord undaunted in spirit in order to preserve and spread the gospel to future ages, including us.
The Early Years…The first services of Prairie Chapel were held occasionally by a “Mr. Newton” from the Western Reserve. He was known as the “Cow Preacher” because it was his custom, after the corn was husked in the fall, to drive a number of cows to the Denman Prairie and pasture them on corn stalks.
