Mission
Otter Creek School is a safe, loving, nurturing environment where children learn to be responsible for their own actions and education. They are encouraged to discover and develop their unique talents to become knowledgeable, caring, lifelong learners who are self-confident and respectful citizens of their school, community, country and world.
About Us
Otter Creek School is one of California's newest one room school houses and is located nine miles above Georgetown in the El Dorado National Forest. It is a "school of choice" for 32 K-5 students with two teachers and one aide. Otter Creek provides a distinctive educational environment which allows each and every child to receive individual attention and care in a developmentally appropriate program where learning is challenging and the expectations for both academic and social behaviors are high. Our program is student centered using frequent regroupings of students in cooperative learning activities.We offer a strong language-based program which emphasizes weekly recitations with daily sign language, art activities and computer time.
