Oak Grove Improvement Association

P.O. Box 294
781-321-6504

The Oak Grove Improvement Association (OGIA), like its name is very old, but unlike its name is not just about Oak Grove but all of Malden.  Established in 1897, rendering it as one of the oldest groups still in existence in the City of Malden

  • In 2003, the Oak Grove Improvement Association was re-established and subsequently, incorporated.  Believing in the idea of community, the corporate purpose was expanded to benefit the residents of the entire City of Malden, not just those in the Oak Grove neighborhood.  It is a Massachusetts public charity, and has been designated a 501(c)3 organization by the Internal Revenue Service, effective as of 2003.

  • The Oak Grove Improvement Association, an all volunteer organization, sees itself as a catalyst in the establishment of a strong, healthy, and safe community with an environmental purpose.  Furthermore, it encourages volunteerism and welcomes and encourages community participation.  The organization enhances the well being of the community by fostering creative expression and dialog through which positive change may occur.
  • The organization's purpose is derived from its dedication to the support, development and advancement of the residents of the City of Malden.  The purpose is broad in spectrum; supporting events and projects promoting community.  Some of OGIA's goals, and subsequent activities, include community beautification projects, (Oak Grove Community Building, Lincoln Commons Circle Garden), student scholarships, and the Harvest Moon Festival.
