In The Spring of 1996 Pastor Greg Breeden had the opportunity to come to New England to preach. In conjunction with this trip he and his host took a trip into Maine to look over an area Pastor Breeden had been told about, North Windham. The need for separated Independent Baptist Churches in New England was obvious. God's immediate will was another ministry for the Breedens, but the need for a work in North Windham, was an abiding burden on brother Breeden's heart.

In January of 1999 Pastor Breeden again visited Maine with his wife Mandy and three children. Though they had come to Maine with several possibilities for planting a church, God showed His will very quickly and with full assurance.

After the preparation years of 1999-2000 were completed, the Breedens were commissioned and sent as Church-planting Missionaries by the Fellowship Baptist Church, Taylors, SC in the spring of 2001. Preparations were made and a week of meetings were held with the first Sunday being September 9, 2001. Pastor Bryce Hager of Fellowship preached these meetings which were a success. Despite the September 11th tragedy happening in the midst of the week, God proved Himself able.
