Our History:
Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church dates back to the early 1800's, when religious services were held in a grove at "the old pottery corner" in what was known as Pottery Corner ( this name was given due to it being the first pottery established in Kentucky).  To reach the grove, one followed the Aiken Trail, or "Aiken Blaze" a pioneer woods thoroughfare, said to be the first "blaze" in Kentucky also.  The Church was established with forty two families living in the community now known as Todd's Point.  Some of the early members were the Logan, Hunter, Harris, Hinkle, Weeks, and Green families.  The first Pastor of the Church was The Rev. William Foree; and the present pastor is Rev. William Taylor.  The Community's name changed following the Civil War, and the church has ministered in this community during good and bad times.  The Church sustained a major fire on December 27, 2005.  The Congregation celebrated the Church's re-entry into Our House of Worship six months to the Sunday when we were burned out.  Much has changed during the life of this church, and much will change in the future; yet, it is the never changing love of our Lord Jesus Christ, that has allowed us to continue on and to grow.  A new world of ministry is before us, and we as a church have decided to meet it in the Power and Glory of Our God.  One day when others look back to our time today; may they say we were working diligently to win the lost to Christ, and heal the broken hearted, wounded, and sick.
