About

Morrow County School District is located in rural north central Oregon, bordered on the north by the Columbia River and timbered by the Umatilla National Forest on the southern border. Although the county covers more than 2,000 square miles, the population is only about 11,100. The district has nine schools and serves the four communities of Boardman, Irrigon, Heppner and Lexington, educating 2300 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The people of Morrow County have a passion for education for all their children, and despite the challenges of distance and diversity, our schools do well. They care about and support their schools. The student population in Boardman and Irrigon is diverse and growing with the largest minority group being Hispanic. Schools in Heppner are smaller and have more stable student populations.

A dedicated seven-member board, three elected local school committees and a staff of over 350 work hard to prepare Morrow County students for the 21st century. This dedication is evidenced by the board's commitment to small class sizes, innovative and progressive programs, exceptional facilities, and cutting edge technology. Outstanding students, supportive citizens, and caring educators make us very proud to be part of the Morrow County School District.

Morrow County Schools, in partnership with families and communities, provide each student the opportunity to develop values, knowledge, skills and self-confidence to become life-long learners and responsible citizens.
