History:

Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity (MVHFH) is an approved affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and was established as a non-for-profit organization in 1988. In the last 19 years, MVHFH has built or renovated over 120 homes with and for low-income families.

The affiliate has an active Board of Trustees and an active and involved committee structure. MVHFH has seven full-time paid staff - Executive Director, Development Director, Office Manager, Construction Manager, Assistant Construction Manager, Volunteer Manager and Warehouse & Resale Store Manager, as well as two part time paid staff - Accountant, and Restore Cashier. In addition to these positions, three AmeriCorps VISTA workers work full time at MVHFH. Since the current staff has been on board (first staff was hired in late 1998), the pace of building has accelerated with 6 homes built in 1998, 6 in 1999, 11 in 2000, 13 in 2001, 14 in 2002, 10 in 2003, 12 in 2004, and 10 in 2005. For the 2006 build year we have 14 homes planned. The plan for the next three years is to increase homes built to 12-15 per year

MVHFH has established an excellent organization in the Toledo metropolitan area and has involved individual church congregations, teams of church congregations, service organizations, professional associations, credit unions, and numerous local employers as partners in the sponsorship of individual homes.

Many, many organizations have contributed to the success of Habitat for Humanity in the greater Toledo area over the years. Contributions of money, materials, and labor have been numerous.
