Mission Statement of the United Church of Christ of Hummelstown

As a congregation of Christ's people and in response to his call, the members of the Hummelstown United Church of Christ strive to fulfill its mission by:
Glorifying God through our personal and group worship
Weekly worship services - Traditional Worship at 10:30 AM, Blended Worship at 8:00 AM
Special services throughout the church year, such as: Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday Sunrise, Youth Sunday, Laity Sunday, and Christmas Eve.
Adult choir

Intergenerational bell choir
Tape ministry to homebound and sick
Encourage people to live wholly, compassionate lives
celebrating the sacraments
Communion received monthly
Pastor shares communion with home-bound and sick
Baptism administered to both infants and adults (infants placed on the church cradle rolls)
Rededication of Baptismal vows at Easter services
and preaching and teaching the Word of God to all ages
A computer lab for Christian education
Weekly Church school for all ages including two adult classes
Sermons based upon the Bible for both adults and children
Junior church (for ages 4-10) - a time of worship/learning for the children after children's sermon (This is an option for parents to consider)
Yearly confirmation classes
Annual vacation Bible school (usually held in June)
We are a "teaching church" for students from the Lancaster Theological Seminary
Developing our family of Christians into a vibrant congregation that provides fellowship of love, support, and understanding to all ages
Prayer Vine - a group of members that lifts up prayer requests to God.
Women's Fellowship - a group that engages in a variety of educational, fellowship and mission activities. All women are invited to attend.
Caring Friends - a group of members who try to serve God and the church by helping fellow members in times of need.
Congregational Health Ministry- promotes health and wellness activities for members of the church.
Sr. Youth Ministry - a group of young adults between the ages of 12-17 who participate in various fellowship, service and faith development activities.
Jr. Youth Ministry - a group of children ages 5-11 years old who participate in various fellowship, service and faith development activities.
Adult Ministry - a group of adults who participate in various fellowship, service and faith development activities.
Recreational volleyball team that competes in a church league.
Monthly fellowship hour after worship (2nd Sunday of the month).
Fellowship events such as: church picnic, hanging of Christmas greens, pot-luck dinners, golf outings, camping and our all-church rally day. A scholarship fund that assists students after high school.
Home for Boy Scout Troop 66.
Home for the Hummelstown Community Chorus
Committing our time, talents, and treasures in witnessing to and caring for the less fortunate and unchurched within our local, national, and world communities.
Financially, through "Our Church's Wider Mission (OCWM) and a number of special offerings.
Collecting food on a quarterly basis for the Hummelstown Food Bank.
Women's Fellowship makes lap robes for people in nursing homes and grooming kits for people at the local mission, and other mission projects also.
Members of the church volunteer their time to a tutoring ministry in Allison Hill in Harrisburg.
Members participate in an after school Tutoring Ministry at our local grade school.
A monthly community meal for all Senior Citizen sponsored by Women's Fellowship.
Annual participation in the local CROP walk. The founder of this event is a member of this congregation.
Christmas in April, a one-day house rehabilitation event in the greater-Harrisburg area.
