On February 21, 1871, Trinity Lutheran Church of Homer City was organized by Doctor R.A. Fink, then President of the Allegheny Synod with 28 charter members, the majority of whom were from Luther Chapel, Coral. On May 19, 1878, Trinity, Homer City, merged with Luther Chapel, Coral to form the Homer City parish, an arrangement which was to last until December 1968. In 1922, Trinity and Luther Chapel, were joined by Brush Valley congregation. In 1968, after a long period of study and discussion, the parish arrangement with Luther Chapel and Brush Valley, an arrangement which had lasted over ninety years, was dissolved, and Trinity became a one church charge for the first time in its long history. During the 1980’s Trinity was a member of the Town & Country Lutheran Ministry and was served by a team of Pastors and Interns. In 1994,a merger between Trinity Lutheran Church, Homer City and Brush Valley Lutheran, Brush Valley formed the present Hope Lutheran Church, Homer City. The present building in which the members of Hope worship was originally a frame structure completed and dedicated by Pastor Snyder on October 6, 1872. In July of 1952 the old frame building was brick faced with Colonial Red brick, the old belfry was removed and a new roof and tower (without the bell) were rebuilt. In 1965 the bulletin board was constructed of Colonial brick to match the exterior of the church and to house the old church bell which had been removed from the church tower in 1952. Between 1954 and 1964 the church office was built and the structure of the Narthex was altered.
