Mission

The Mission of HOAP is to support Haitian children in need by providing them with food, clothing, and education. Many families in Haiti are unable to afford school, and those who can, are often forced to send their youngsters to school on an empty stomach. Schools are often the only place that will provide the children with a meal. However, the majority of public schools are overcrowded, leaving many children without education, and a meal. HOAP grants private school scholarships for children of the most underprivileged families in the community.

The program includes tuition, a minimum of one meal per day, a school uniform, and books. The organization also assists with the ongoing sanitation efforts in Petit-Goave, which includes clean drinking water and garbage disposal. In addition, HOAP provides basic medical necessities, and supports an annual medical fair.

Each year, HOAP works hard to deliver all donations in person in order to assure a safe arrival and distribution. The organization's members travel to Haiti on a regular basis in order to make distributions, and assess further needs. All of the administrative work is done from the board member's homes. This helps our group to keep our administrative costs low,
and allows us to apply nearly all of the monetary donations directly toward the cause.
