About Us :

Our goal as a Historical Society is to collect, restore, preserve and protect the artifacts, items and records which pertain to the history and heritage of the people of Hampstead, New Hampshire.

Re-established in January of 1998 by a group of interested townspeople, the Society has been working since then to organize and add to its collection of artifacts, present interesting programs for the town, attract new members, raise funds, and most importantly, open, improve upon, maintain and staff the Hampstead Historical Museum which opened in July of 1999.

The Society currently has hundreds of interesting items that have been donated throughout the years. As we prepare the items for display in the Museum, we are always pleased when we come across an interesting photo or artifact, especially when it is identified or linked to one of our members who has been affiliated with Hampstead for many years.

The Historical Society is always on the lookout for new members and relevant artifacts. If you are interested in obtaining more information about the Society and/or have a piece of Hampstead's history that you wish to donate or loan for display, please feel welcome to attend one of our meetings. They're held every 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Museum.

As membership and financial support grow, the Society hopes to expand the Museum's role in the community. Interesting exhibits, interaction with our schools, informative programs and presentations, genealogical information and historical house information are but a few of the ideas that we hope to make a reality as the Museum becomes an important resource for the people of Hampstead.
