First Presbyterian Church Portsmouth is rich in history. First built in 1822 on Middle Street, the church was destroyed by fire in 1872. The only things that survived this fire were the pews and the stained glass windows. The church was rebuilt at its current location at Court & King Streets, and rededicated in 1877. The pews and stained glass from the original church were incorporated into the current building.
