About Us
The First Baptist Church congregation was gathered in 1897 and moved into our current location at 20 Summer Street, Bridgewater, in 1902. Through the years, in full years and lean, we have a history of standing together and alongside each other as our needs arise, and reaching out to those in need around us. By God's grace, we continue to do so.
We are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA. Within that denomination, we are aligned with the American Baptist Evangelicals, a reforming movement which seeks to call the denomination to fidelity to the Word of God and to historic Baptist principles. Our mission work extends from local interests such as the Christian Fellowship at Bridgewater State College to global interests such as Samaritan's Purse.
