Fairlawn Fire Department

3525 S. Smith Road.
330-668-9540

The mission of the City of Fairlawn Fire and EMS systems is to provide its community with sensitive, cost-effective protection against the threat to life and property due to fire, medical emergencies, and other disasters.

The City of Fairlawn Fire Department has been involved in a number of programs since its inception and takes a great deal of pride in the level of services provided to the community and residents. Housed within the Fairlawn Fire Department is the Inspection Bureau, which ensures all the codes and ordinances of the City of Fairlawn are met for new and existing commercial structures and the Fire Prevention and Public Education Bureau. Fairlawn, along with three other communities in 1987, helped build the first child safety house in Summit County for use in Fire Prevention Programs. Recently these 4 original departments participated in the joint purchase of a new child safety house, which is a mobile two-story home used to show children how to exit a smoky dwelling. This house is also equipped with a severe weather-training package that is used in the prevention and public education program. The City of Fairlawn Fire Department's personnel were charter members of the Summit County Hazardous Materials Response Team. The fire department has also been involved with the University of Akron Fire Science Training Program and other various programs that will be seen throughout this site.
