History

The East Paris Baptist Church began as the Bible Baptist Church of Paris, TX and was founded on July 15, 1942. It began in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Steelman with 34 charter members. The first minister to the new congregation was Rev. E.J. Ruff (1942-44). At first, the church met in a rented building on Clarksville Street across from Paris Junior College.
