Dixie Music Center

It was on our first date, in 1987, that Bob told me he'd like to move to Old Town and open a music store. All I could think at the time was, "Where the heck is Old Town?" Many weekend trips to Old Town later, we took the plunge and, in 1991 we packed up our cat and our belongings and moved to Old Town to open Dixie Music Center. At the time we had no idea if we'd be able to make it or have to move back to St. Petersburg in a month. I mean, here we were in the middle of nowhere with 6 used guitars on the wall and a few sets of strings and other oddball things from the attic. That was 22 years ago and we're still here. Thanks to Bob's vast knowledge of the musical industry business and great community support we've found our place here in the middle of nowhere. It has turned out to be a good location.

One of the nicest things about living in a small community is that our customers are also our neighbors. We always try to provide the best service and the best prices, not only because it's the right thing to do, but because we truly care about our customers. Bob and I are both working musicians and know the challenges of playing live music. This enables us to help our customers get the perfect gear for whatever the gig may be. Bob has used his expertise to help many local churches and schools with sound reinforcement and staging. His advice is sought after throughout the week, because, here at Dixie Music Center advice is always free.

We live here and are part of this community and we want to do our part to make things better for everyone. We are active in several organizations, including the Dixie County Chamber of Commerce and the Dixie County Historical Society and Bob has spearheaded the Adopt-A-Highway program in Dixie County, filling all but a few eligible tracts in the county along Highway 19.

But, above all, it's about the music. We offer music lessons to encourage, not only the youth in our area, but anyone of any age, the joy of learning music. We celebrate our anniversary every year in October with live music all day and we have a Christmas program each year as well, allowing the community some opportunities to enjoy live music. Our music students participate in a spring recital each year, giving them the chance to be on stage and perform in front of a live audience. We feel that music is a gift and we are happy to be able to promote it in any way that we can.
