Mission:

The mission of The Boston Conservatory is to educate exceptional performing artists for careers that enrich and transform the human experience by using the skills, creativity, and courage nourished in our vibrant, multidisciplinary community of musicians, dancers and actors.

Vision:

In the future, The Boston Conservatory will be internationally known for the distinctive character of its training and the professional readiness of its graduates.

We envision a Boston Conservatory that continues to be small and student centered, and increasingly becomes:

The place where students engage and benefit from a fully multidisciplinary culture.
The place where practical training is at the core of every class and every production.
The place where excellence, curiosity, and innovation are the norms for music, dance, and theater.
The region's most reliable repository for the best of our inherited traditions, and an incubator for new works.

Graduates of the Conservatory will be known and valued as much for the breadth of their culture and imagination as for the caliber of their skills. Boston Conservatory graduates will be core members of regional, national, and international theater, dance, and opera companies, orchestras, and choruses. Recruitment will continue to be both national and international in scope; selectivity and retention of the best available student talent will increase yearly. Boston Conservatory students will share their talents with audiences that can't come to them-in institutions and communities throughout the nation.

The Conservatory faculty will be a community embracing the nation's most inspiring artist/teachers and guests of special distinction. Further, The Conservatory will be an excellent, caring employer of faculty and staff who are deeply committed to the institution, engaging individuals who will act as a cohesive working group in planning and delivery of all Conservatory services.

The Conservatory will take best advantage of its Boston location and its international reach-connecting meaningfully to the community of performing arts organizations and to a broad and diverse community of audiences. The Conservatory will be counted among Boston 's most active presenters, offering student performances of unusual scope and quality.

The Trustees of the Conservatory will model a superior culture of governance, oversight, and financial support. The Overseers of the Conservatory will provide broad professional expertise, outreach, and diversity, in order to represent the city of Boston , the region, and world beyond. Both groups will concern themselves with providing sufficient resources to achieve the goals outlined above, and to stabilize and make permanent the enhancements envisioned. The Conservatory will also be nourished by generous alumni giving, plus strong relationships with foundations and the families of current and former students.
