In 2005, a group of local citizens came together with an idea to try to tap into and promote the wealth of artistic talent that resides in Shelby County.  The arts not only bring out the best in people; the arts bring people together!  With that in mind, the Cultural Arts Guild of Shelby County was born.  The name of the guild, "ARTractions!", was chosen to express the excitement that this organization feels about identifying the variety of talent in our area and bringing that talent forward for all to enjoy.  We also intend to become a vehicle to provide opportunities for non-artists to explore their potential artistic abilities.

ARTractions! has already sponsored activities that have showcased many facets of the arts--from painting and pottery to music and poetry.  We have provided venues for expression in writing and drama, and have helped to introduce new artists to the community and to each other.  Our goal is to continue to expand these types of activities and to work with other community and arts groups in order to showcase our area as a cultural arts destination.  We hope you share our excitement and we hope you'll join us.  For membership information, please contact Stephanie Allison, 502-647-1719.

ARTractions! meets the 3rd Saturday of each month, 10 a.m., at Shelby Artists on Main, 617 Main St., Shelbyville, KY.  New members are always welcome.
