About the Symphony

The professional career of Alan S. Allred includes work as a conductor, educator, and violinist. He has taught at all levels of public instruction including: professor of music at Humboldt State University where he served as orchestra director and instructor of violin and viola, conductor of the college of the Redwoods Sinfonia, and his present position as string supervisor for Provo City Schools where he serves as conductor of the Timpview Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras. Allred completed his Bachelor of Music Education at Utah State Universiy. his Master's Degree at Brigham Young University, and Doctoral Studies at Arizona State University.

Dr. Terry Hill is a graduate of Brigham Young University where he was honored as the outstanding music education major. He completed his graduate work at the University of Arizona, where he held a teaching assistantship with the orchestra, and was assistant conductor of the university opera while earning a Doctorate in Instrumental Conducting. His career has included work as a conductor, educator and violist. Dr. Hill taught music in the Provo City School District for over twenty-four years, and is presently a popular guest conductor and adjudicator throughout the West. He recently retired from Utah Valley State College where he was Associate Professor of Music and director of orchestral studies. He is also the director of the Utah Valley Youth Symphony.

The 90 members of the American Fork Symphony hail from American Fork and surrounding communities from Draper to Payson.
