Addison Branch Library

6901 Superior Avenue
216-623-6906

History:

Located in the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood, Addison Branch serves one of Cleveland's most ethnically diverse populations. Opened in 1990, this library measures 7,500 square feet.

Addison Branch is a one-story contemporary building of brick and steel.  Cleveland architect, Stephen J. Bucchieri”s inspiration include: the Cleveland Museum of Art’s indoor garden, Cambridge University’s medieval bookshelves, and Jefferson Branch Library’s interior.  Bucchieri used burned manganese ironspot brick for the exterior walls. The interior has a barrel vaulted ceiling and clerestory windows that provides natural light. The glass brick front window is shaped as a stylized Egyptian cross. While the exterior of the building refers to the highly durable vocabulary of Cleveland’s industrial heritage, the interior reflects the cultural tradition of Cleveland and the traditional library.”
