LENOX, MA. – Join us at Ventfort Hall for a lecture with fine art conservator Troy Amuso of Troy Fine Art Services in Sheffield/Ashley Falls, MA. and Fairfield, CT. Tea will be served after his presentation.

His talk will walk us through the fascinating world of art restoration, starting with the common environmental dangers to paintings, what you can do to prevent curtail damage and ending with some of the treatments he uses to return paintings to good health. Troy will use visual examples of his process, including work he has done to paintings of all styles and values from collections around the northeast.

Troy entered the world of art restoration in 1977 working as a studio apprentice in southern Westchester County, New York, under highly respected Dutch art conservator, Yan Vanderviver. It was that unique opportunity that sparked Troy’s passion in the craft of art conservation, setting him on a path towards an unyielding career as a fine art oil painting conservator from a young age. From 1977 to 1995 Troy held studio positions focused on the preservation of fine art in New York, Connecticut and Los Angeles. It was during those formative years that Troy earned a respected reputation for his conservation work from art collectors, art galleries, and private museums throughout the North East and West Coast.

 In 1996 Troy and his wife, Denise DiGrigoli, founded Troy Fine Art Services, an art conservation studio modeled on the philosophy that each client and painting is unique and should receive only exceptional personal attention located in Sheffield/Ashley Falls, MA. and Fairfield, CT.

 Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated by the Massachusetts Cultural Council as an important partner of the Lenox Cultural District, one of the five such Berkshire County districts, Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum was built in 1893 for George and Sarah Morgan, the sister of legendary financier J. Pierpont Morgan.

 Self-guided tours of the historic mansion are offered daily, as well as Tea & Talks, such exhibitions as the Bellefontaine Collection, concerts, theater, ghost tours and hunts as well as other programs. This elegant Jacobean-Revival Berkshire “cottage” is open to the public year-round and is available for private rental.  Ventfort Hall, also an Official Project of Save America’s Treasures program sponsored by The White House, has undergone substantial restoration, which continues.
