Citizens Police Academy
The Hamilton Police Department is pleased to announce the commencement of its Citizens Police Academy. The Academy will run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm for nine consecutive Wednesdays beginning on Wednesday September 21, 2022 and concluding on Wednesday November 16, 2022.

The Citizen Police Academy is designed to familiarize citizens with the operation and functions of the Hamilton Police Department, Communications Center and Fire Department. Classes will cover various topics such as Criminal Law, Patrol Procedures, Evidence collection, Domestic Violence, Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Court Procedures, and Use of Force. Additionally participants will complete a 2 hour police ride along. The ride along portion of the program gives students firsthand experience as to what police patrol looks like. Courses will be taught by a Hamilton Police Officers, Police Supervisors, Hamilton Fire-fighters and Dispatch personnel.

There is no charge to attend, however, you must be 18 years or older. The class is limited to 18 applicants. Applications may be picked up at the Hamilton Police Department, 265 Bay Road or at the Town Clerks office, 577 Bay Road.  Applications can also be downloaded on the Hamilton Police website, www.Hamiltonma.gov. You may also request an application packet by contacting Captain Scott Janes at 978-468-1212. The deadline for application submittal will be Saturday September 10, 2022. Preference will be given to Hamilton residents.

Reminder to all Residents about Trash and Compost Collection:

Your Green Compost bin must remain out with your Trash barrel in order for the trash to be picked up. If the Compost has been collected before the Trash, do not remove the Green bin from your yard. The people on the Trash truck do not know that the compost has already been collected and will not pick up the trash if the Green bin is not there.
Also, on a holiday week, please check the first page of the website for the latest update about whether or not there are changes to the schedule for trash pick up that week. Thank you!!
