Salem Days Baby Contest wants to create a positive experience for both parents and baby. This heartwarming event is a fun way for parents to share their child’s unique personality and beauty. We encourage resident babies and babies with resident grandparents to attend this fun event.

AGE CATEGORY:

Babies from Newborn to 36 months can enter the contest. There will be a girl and boy winner in each age category.(see below for age category)

JUDGING:

Our judges this year will all be from out of town.  The judging system will be a numeric system that gives a numeric value in four categories:

A)  Babies Physical Features
B)  Babies Personalities and Behavior
C)  Babies Reaction to Judges
D)  Babies Attire and Overall Look

JUDGING TIMES and AGE CATEGORY:
4:00-6:00pm (no entries after 6:00pm). All walk-ins are welcome.
If a baby is in line at the time of closing, they will be able to be judged. NO EXCEPTIONS and NO REFUNDS will be given.

PRIZES:

Each participant will receive a portrait for participating. The Baby Contest Winners will be announced on Friday, August 11, 2023 after the Children’s Parade at the Downtown Ball Park at 60 North 100 East. We will be hosting a raffle with a surprise grand prize that you won't want to miss. Must be in attendance to claim prize.

Pictures will be available for pick up at that time. If you are not able to attend the announcement of winners, you may pick your baby's photo up at the Salem Rec. Office?

ENTRY:

Pre-Registration fee is $25 per participant by noon on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Salem City Recreation Office 60 North 100 East, Salem. Office hours are 8am - 5pm, Monday through Thursday and Friday 8am - 1:00pm.

Registration fee the day of the event is $30 per participant.

6:00 pm and runs until all tractors have pulled weight transfer sled.
Tractors run in weight classes, starting from standing start until sled stalls tractor.
Tractors are scored by distance pulled.

Children's Parade at Salem Elementary

This years theme for Salem Days is "Rock this town".

Now everyone knows that a children's parade consists of trikes, bikes, wagons, scooters, unicycles, and strollers... pretty much anything with wheels.  Of course, anyone can walk the parade route too.  In fact, you can even make a float!  So start thinking of ways to decorate your mode of transportation.  We would love to see your creativity!

Salem City's goal for the Children's Parade is to encourage all of the children to come and celebrate youth and vitality.  We want to have the children feel a part of the celebration!  So gather up your family, your friends, your neighbors, and get your ideas rollin'.  More details to come.

NO HORSES, ATV'S OR GAS POWERED VEHICLES.  BATTERY OPERATED CARS ARE OK.

Parade route begins at the corner of 500 E. & Salem Canal Road, will travel north to Center Street, then run down center street to Main Street where entries will head south eventually winding around the pond and end at Knoll Park.

8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Car Show @ Veterans Memorial Park
Entry Fee is $20.00 for Vehicle Owners $10 each additional vehicle.
