Art Exhibit: Bernica Williams
Daily, During Open Hours

Enchanted Harmony

Art Reception: Tues, 10/17 4:30-5:45

"If you would be a witch, honor the Earth, honor life. Love. Know that magic is a birthright of every human being and use it wisely."

Bernica Wilcox is a high fantasy surrealism painter living on Martha's Vineyard. Most of her inspiration forms from her vivid dreams. She uses bright colored paints to express her free-spirited dreams through art. She creates original paintings as well as stickers, prints, and apparel.

Adaptive Yoga

Tuesdays | 10:15-11:15am

Adaptive Yoga is a style of yoga that considers all bodies and abilities. This class aims to improve patron's flexibility, concentration and strength while remaining accessible to all. Lorrane has been a yoga teacher for many years on island, teaching classes at Yoga on the Vine, private lessons, and her popular summertime morning flow at Bend in the Road. Join us on Tuesday mornings.

Game Night is Back

At The Barn, Bowl and Bistro!
Wednesdays | 7:30-10:00

Come join us downstairs at the Barn Bowl & Bistro for a variety of board games and socializing. We meet weekly at 7:30pm, and newcomers are always welcome.

Salsa Suelta with Christina Montoya
Thursdays | 5:30-6:30

Known as Casino dancing in Cuba, this class will explore basic rhythms and movements of this style and related styles, as well as touch on history and culture. No partner necessary. Class size is limited to 15 attendees and registration is encouraged. Please park in the rear entrance of the library as this program ends after the library closes. Parking in the rear lot allows participants to leave directly from the meeting room.

Partner Salsa Dance Class

G from Boston based Masacote Dance Company, will be joining Christina Montoya for a very special salsa dance class! They are teaming up to give you the opportunity to not only Salsa Suelta, but to learn some salsa partnering work as well! All levels are welcome. No partner necessary. Ten Tips to Help Your Children’s Reading Bloom
Saturday, October 7th | 2:30-3:30

Join Deb Dunn, M. Ed. for her talk based on years of experience and current research. Take home practical tips to help your child thrive as a reader. For parents, caregivers, family members, etc. of children ages 0-9 (and older!). All are welcome.

Cancer: Environmental Causes and Prevention

A one-hour educational presentation which highlights how the thousands of untested chemicals in products we use each day could be impacting our health, how researching the environmental causes of cancer can lead to prevention and what steps you can take to reduce exposure to dangerous chemicals in your everyday life. Resources to help choose safer products are provided.

Scary Movie Friday

Calling all scary movie buffs. We will be showing a frightening film to get us all ready for the spooky season. Program is after hours, so please enter the meeting room through the rear entrance of the building.

Sonic Flow Writing
Saturday, October 14th | 1:00

Sonic Flow Writing workshops are an immersive, interactive, intentional experience. You will experience a meditative sound journey and be guided into free flow writing. This practice of accessing creative flow involves the arts of listening, meditating, playing & and writing! Bring a journal, pen & yoga mat if you have them, although we will have extras if needed!

Fabric Pumpkin Craft

Feeling stressed about college essay writing? Lucy Grinnan, professional writing tutor, is here to help! Brainstorming prompts, editing checklists, and sample essays will be available for you to bring home. A pizza lunch is provided—bring a friend and whatever draft you have so far!

Vineyard Power

Through education and community support, Vineyard Power will help you and your neighbors gain access to no-cost home energy assessment, rebates for energy efficient home heating appliances, assistance in adopting renewable energy resources, such as solar, and other incentives available in our island transitions away from fossil fuels.

Totally Unrealistic Book Club

Fantasy, Science Fiction, Dystopian, Adventure and more! This book club meets on the 4th Friday of each month to throw the "real world" out the window. Please enter the Oak Bluffs Library's Meeting Room through the rear entrance (next to town hall parking lot).


Beach BeFriender’s Clean Up
Saturday, October 28th | 8:00-10:00am

LAMBERT’S COVE BEACH, WT

Beach BeFrienders is a collaboration with Vineyard Conservation Society, Island Libraries, Island DWP's and MV Refuse District, dedicated to tending our beloved Island beaches. Join us every 4th Saturday, from 8-10 am, where we meet to clean up an Island beach.

Can't make it to an official Beach BeFriender’s clean up? Head to your local libraries for the official cleanup kits and disposal is FREE at any Island transfer station.

September Maritime Month Highlights

September was Maritime Month at the Oak Bluffs library. We celebrated with programs connecting us to our maritime culture.

Hannah taught how to make decoupage shells as a great DIY gift!

Emma Green Beach moderated a conversation reminiscing of our shellfish history with local professionals

The Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group taught all sorts of shucking techniques and information about our aquaculture.
