2023 “Best of Medina County” High School Art Show
Award Recipients

The Educational Service Center (ESC) of Medina County is pleased to announce this year’s award winners of the “Best of Medina County” High School Art Show.

Angel Kopnicky, a junior at Buckeye High School, has been awarded Best of Show for her “Angel” painting. She will receive a $300 award from the ESC of Medina County, sponsored by George and Mary Marg Marquis. According to her art instructor, Adam Zbydnowski, “Angel’s painting and conceptual skills have grown exponentially this past year. She paints in oils and explores different styles and techniques to convey different emotions in life-changing events. She is not only a proficient painter but also an accomplished saxophone player and dancer. She participates in the Buckeye High School Marching Band and High School Theater. Angel is planning to pursue a career in art after she graduates.”

Pat Wise, coordinator of the Medina County Art Show, observed, “I enjoyed being a part of this artistic tradition again. It is always a pleasure to see the skill and creativity of our county’s high school students. I hope that all the students celebrate their accomplishments and continue in their creative pursuits. Thank you to Dr. Robert Hlasko and Brenda Zacharias for judging the entries.”

We also wish to thank our sponsors for their generous support, which made many of the awards possible: Dominic’s Pizzeria, Hollo’s PaperCraft, Inc., George and Mary Marg Marquis, VCS Salon and Spa, and Brenda Zacharias.

A goal of this year’s juried art show was to provide recognition to as many students as possible. High school students were eligible to participate, and artwork submitted was to be each student’s very best. This year 67 students from four Medina County school districts entered 89 pieces of artwork.

The Best of Medina County High School Art Show is on display now through May 22 at the Cleveland Clinic Medina Medical Office Building, South (Entrance D). The event is presented by the Educational Service Center of Medina County in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital.
