Art Exhibitors Wanted!

We're looking for artists who would like to exhibit and share their talent with the community. Exhibits are usually on display throughout the library for one to two months. Contact Sarah at [email protected]

Holiday Closure

The Library will be closed on Friday, November 11 in observance of Veterans' Day. The Library will reopen to the public on Saturday, November 12 at 9AM.

Going to Extremes: A Travel Journalist’s Tour of the Globe’s Most Adventurous Outposts

An award-winning adventure travel journalist for The Washington PostThe Los Angeles TimesNational Geographic Kids, and The Boston Globe, Peter Mandel hunts his stories and photos in the world’s far corners. He’ll deliver the scoop on how travel turns to prose on today’s magazine and newspaper pages. Register online.

Reading to a Library Dog
Monday, November 7 at 4PM

Come and read to Aston, a certified therapy dog. Registration is required. This program is designed to help develop reading skills and is recommended for children who want to practice their reading fluency. 

Bouncing Books and Babies
Tuesdays at 10AM until Tuesday, November 15

Ages 6 months to 2 1/2 years
Program will include two to three books, songs, finger-plays, and circle games.

Gosling Gathering Story Time
Tuesdays at 11AM until Tuesday, November 15

Ages 2 to 5 years.
Three to four books will be read. Children and parents will also participate in songs, finger-plays, and a simple craft.

Teen Event: Dungeons & Dragons: GNOMERCY

Help clear the library of vicious Redcap Gnomes and their horrible little friends!

Pajama Story Time

Come to the library for a fun evening!  3-4 books, songs, rhymes and a quiet activity will be offered.  Wearing pajamas is encouraged.  This program is for all ages.

Family Outdoor Story Time
Fridays at 10AM until Friday, November 18

Join our Children's Librarians outside as they will read stories under a tree on the library lawn and then provide a fun outdoor activity! Bring a blanket and snack. If the weather does not cooperate the story time will be held inside the library. This program is for all ages.

Teen Event: World of Gnomecraft
For those in grades 7-12!
Mondays, November 7 and 14 at 3PM

The library is full of gnomes and they want to teach you their traditional crafts!  Spend the afternoon crafting at the library or take home a kit to do on your own!

Chess Club
Friday, November 18 at 3:30PM

For students in 3rd - 6th grade. An informal gathering of students interested in playing chess with others.  A knowledge of how to play chess is recommended.  The chess boards and pieces will be provided.  Register online.

Kitty Café
Saturday, November 19 at 10AM

The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society will be here with some cute cats and kittens. Join us for a morning of pets, cuddles, and general cat admiration. Meet some adoptable cats and get answers to all of your kitty questions.

Please note that this is not an adoption event. People wishing to adopt will need to go through the process outlined on the MRFRS website.

Beginner Book Club

For students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. The book will be provided and read together (independent reading skills are not required).  Join us for a book discussion and questions, along with jokes, riddles, and a craft! Space is limited and registration is required.

GPL Book Group
Monday, November 14 at 7PM

Teen Book Club
Tuesday, November 15 at 3PM

This month's selection is The Grimrose Girls by Laura Pohl.. This group meets at Hatter's Tea Shoppe. Copies of the book will be available at the library's Circulation Desk. Questions? Contact Kyle at [email protected]

MA Children’s Book Awards Book Club
Monday, November 21 at 7PM

This month's selection is Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston. For kids in 4th -6th grade and their parents or caregivers (optional). Registration is recommended.

Senior Center Book Group
Tuesday, November 22 at 2PM

This month's selection is The Book Woman’s Daughter by Kim Michele Richardson. This group meets at the Georgetown Senior Center. Copies of the book will be available at the library. Questions? Contact Sarah at [email protected] 

Giving Tuesday

Our StoryWalk® has been one of our most popular attractions. Now we want to install a permanent StoryWalk® for children and their families. To do this, we will be participating in this year’s Giving Tuesday on November 29, 2022.

You will hear more about Giving Tuesday and how you can have an impact in the days to come. Mark November 29 on your calendar today!

Call for Parent Volunteers

We are looking for parents who want to be our Ambassadors on Giving Tuesday.  Ambassadors help us spread the word about the StoryWalk® Project by forwarding our posts to their own social media.
