From: Franklin County Cider Days

CiderDays is an annual community celebration of all things apple in beautiful Franklin County, Massachusetts. 2023 marks our 29th year with tours, cidermaking and tastings, workshops and much more in orchards and venues county-wide from Greenfield, Deerfield, and Turners Falls to Shelburne Falls, Colrain, Heath and the towns in between. Whether you are a cider aficianado (hard or sweet), make your own cider, are an orchardist, like hanging out in bucolic orchards, or just enjoy soaking up all the goodness of autumn in New England, CiderDays is your event!

Berkshire Cider Project opened in July 2020. Our dry ciders start in the orchards and forgotten apple trees across Berkshire country. We combine orchard grown and wild foraged apples with traditional techniques to craft sparkling ciders that are refreshingly complex yet accessible! Our bright labels and tie-dye accessories are inspired by warm Berkshire summers and the modern art at MassMoCA, just down the road. By partnering with orchards across the county we hope to share our deep interest in agricultural development and sustainability. Red Apple Farm
455 Highland Avenue, Phillipston, MA
Saturday, Nov. 4 and Sunday, Nov. 5, 9am - 8pm

Red Apple Farm is that place you can go and spend the day. With a Country Store and pick-your-own apples and blueberries, farm animals for the kids, and a dog-friendly craft beer and hard cider taproom andrestaurant called the Brew Barn, it will be difficult to spend just a little time here. Our latest project is the Red Apple Farm Hard Cidery, which we formed in 2018 with the brew folks at Moon Hill Brewing Co. of Gardner, MA. We turned a storeroom into a fermentation room and the room next door into a hard cider tap room. We’ve since built an outdoor deck and rolled out a cider garden in a thicket of pines behind the cidery. The views are beautiful. You can see Wachusett Mountain or just look out over the cider pond, orchards, and blueberry fields. There’s a small stage too, for live music. It’s a stunning place!

Our Cidery pours our very own Hard Cider in traditional and seasonal flavors, as well as non-alcoholic drink options. Our first cider maker, Bill Rose, who passed on the farm to current owners Al & Nancy Rose, was known to keep some scrumpy and some of the better stuff in his basement on the farm, back in the day. He never sold it and didn’t always admit he had it. You might find him walking around the farm, and if so, get him to sign his book “Hard Apple Cider” by William Rose!
