November is Here and We are Feeling Grateful

November began with a blustery chill this week, but despite the dropping temperatures our hearts are warm with gratitude. As Thanksgiving approaches in just a few weeks, we are taking time to reflect on what we are grateful for at Mill Ballet School. We have a truly special community of dancers, their families, dedicated teachers, and staff, who come together to support one another and the art of dance by being active participants in the Mill Ballet School and Roxey Ballet Company.

Our students lift us up every day, bringing a joyful light to the studio. So we want to hear from you, the students. What are you grateful for at Mill Ballet School? Responses will be shared in our newsletter this month and some will be shared on social media. If a student would like to participate, click here

Tap teacher Ella Hyatt shares why she is grateful for her MBS family: "I am grateful for all of the amazing people I have had the opportunity to watch, dance with, and teach over the years at the Mill Ballet School. It truly feels like a second home and overall a family. It is a place to learn and grow not only as a dancer, but also as a person! I have created my most fond memories at the school and will cherish them for the rest of my life."

Ballet and pointe teacher and Roxey Ballet Company dancer Pinja Sinisalo is thankful for her students. "I am thankful for all the students who always brighten my day and bring smiles to all of our faces. We cheer each other on and motivate each other to be better each day."

November is Hip Hop History Month

Did you know that November is Hip Hop History Month? The official birthday of Hip Hop is November 12, 1974, and our fabulous hip hop teacher Reggie Oliver also celebrates his birthday this month on November 3rd. In honor of Hip Hop History Month and Reggie's birthday, we are offering interested students to attend a free hip hop class during the month of November. Please email Melissa Roxey at [email protected] to schedule your free class.

Giving Tuesday

November 28 is Giving Tuesday and we hope you will consider a donation to Roxey Ballet in your giving plans. Roxey Ballet is proud to be recognized for its emphasis on equity, inclusion, and diversity, making the arts accessible to all. Please help Roxey Ballet do more in the community by making a tax-deductible donation. Money raised goes directly into planned activities and programming.

On behalf of Mark and Melissa Roxey, the artists, staff, Board of Trustees, and the hundreds of local area students, we thank you for your generosity and continued support of our unique programs.

Roxey Ballet Wine Fundraiser

Inspired by the Dancing on the Green performance in October, a special wine label was created by Old York Cellars for Roxey Ballet using wine as the paint by artist Mark Schreiber. The wind is available for purchase and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Roxey Ballet.
