Featuring guest artist Joelle Lurie and a unique partnership with Concord Conservatory and Powers Art Gallery

Experience music that defies convention with Beyond the Notes. With accolades like "Bold...edgy...totally engaging!" this event promises to shatter expectations. Join renowned violinist Sarah Whitney and multifaceted singer Joelle Lurie for an evening of bold, engaging performances including a groundbreaking fusion of violin, loop pedal, and voice. Engage directly with the artists by submitting your questions to be answered live on stage, oftentimes revealing intimate stories and insights beyond the artists’ bios. Don't miss this unforgettable journey of music, innovation, and connection at Beyond the Notes, supported in part by grants from the Concord Local Cultural Council and Acton-Boxborough Cultural Council - local agencies that are supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Prelude music will feature students from the Concord Conservatory of Music and artwork will be showcased on stage from Powers Gallery.

10% of proceeds will be donated to The Center for Disaster Philanthropy to support their climate change disaster relief.

 

ABOUT SARAH WHITNEY

Praised by the Washington Post for her “marvelous violin acrobatics”, violinist Sarah Whitney is known for her musical versatility and has performed worldwide. She is recognized as a successful performer, speaker, and Career Coach for Musicians and is celebrated for bringing fierce innovation to the classical music world. During her tenure as violinist and founding member of the string quintet, SYBARITE5, she performed over 1000 concerts worldwide, received the Concert Artists Guild Grand Prize and had 3 albums reach the top ten on the Billboard charts. She is also founder of the interactive concert series, Beyond the Notes and her diverse career has included everything from performing at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to sharing the stage with NAS, Adele and Ed Sheeran  She is currently on the faculty of the Longy School of Music and has given lectures and masterclasses around the world, including at the Curtis Institute, The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory, among others. 

 

ABOUT JOELLE LURIE

 

Joelle Lurie is a vocalist, songwriter, voiceover artist and bandleader. Her vocal range and unique ability to switch between musical genres with ease prompted Michael Feinstein to call her "a chameleon" in the one-hour NPR feature he hosted about her on his show, “Song Travels”. She performs an extensive catalog of The Great American Songbook as well as contemporary and original jazz/pop songs as a solo artist and with the bands she co-founded, Joelle Lurie Band and JoJo & The Pinecones, a popular band for family audiences. She maintains a busy performance schedule of concerts and special events in the U.S. and abroad. Highlights include her regular longtime residency at the iconic Tavern on The Green in NYC, as well as performances at Lincoln Center, The Rainbow Room, Rockefeller Center, Birdland Jazz Club, Regattabar, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Lollapalooza, James Beard Foundation Galas, and more. Based in Boston and New York City, she grew up in Weston Massachusetts. Her music is available on iTunes & Spotify.
