The Bear Lake Monster Winterfest is Bear Lake’s biggest annual winter event. The next time this family friendly event is being held is on January 26-28, 2024. Most activities take place in Logan Canyon, Sunrise Resort & Event Center, and the Utah Bear Lake State Park Marina and Cisco Beach. The state parks entrance fee at the Marina will be waived for those attending the event, with a hope that you’ll donate to The Family Place non-profit for which the event is fundraising.

Friday 9am – 3pm,Come try the latest in winter sports equipment. First come, first serve. (Please note there will be no shuttle this year. Do not park on the highway.)

Come socialize before Saturday’s Bear Lake Monster Winterfest events. This year’s social will be bigger and better! Friday from 5-8pm at the Sunrise Resort & Event Center.

Local restaurant specialties – $3/ticket.

A ticket is good for one redemption taste with our local restaurants that will be set up throughout Sunrise Resort.

No limit on number of tickets a person can purchase. While you eat, you can sign up for the Saturday events and enjoy the activities around the resort culminating in a fireworks show at 8pm. Get their early, it is first come first serve as many of our vendors run out of their food offering as the evening progresses.

Tickets are available at entrance of Sunrise Resort.

We also encourage you to return this winter to their establishment to support their winter business and enjoy the winter beauty of Bear Lake.

Monster Cisco Disco & Tournament
6am-11am – Fish must be caught between these times

Dip net for Cisco fish on the east side of Bear Lake at dawn with your valid Utah or Idaho fishing license. Traditionally “Cisco Beach” is the best place to go. State Park entrance fee applies but is well worth it.

A free breakfast (donations welcome for breakfast organizers) of fried Cisco & scones will be served near the boat ramp at Cisco Beach from 7-9am. There will also be some dipnets available to borrow for free at that location if you want to try your hand at dipnetting for Cisco (fishing license required).

Bring your BIGGEST little Cisco fish to the Utah State Park Marina between 11am-noon.

Cisco fish must be caught between 6am and 11am on January 27, 2024. Winners announced at the Awards Ceremony. 

Kid category and adult category both have great prizes.

No cost to enter the contest.

Monster 5K Run/Walk

8:30-9:30am – Packet pickup

10am – Race Begins

Join us for a fun Family 5K during the Bear Lake Winterfest!

We’ll start at the vendor fair at the Bear Lake State Park Marina,  and run a great course south into Garden City and back. Grab the family and come join us for a fun run, hot chocolate, prizes and frozen smiles!

And while you’re here, be sure to stick around and join in the other Winterfest Activities, including the Bear Lake Polar Bear Plunge!

Do you cook a mean pot of chili?  Think it has what it takes to win you an awesome prize? Then read the rules and register below. Public sampling at 11am with an opportunity for the public to vote for their favorite by donating through Venmo or in the tip jars. Judging is to take place at 12:30pm and awards to 1st, 2nd, and Public Choice announced at 1pm.

Registration is FREE! Prizes in the past have include Camp Chef stoves, Yeti coolers, & more. Good luck!

Monster Cardboard Boat Regatta

11am-Noon – Check-in your vessel; Get wave assignment;

Noon – Competition begins

We are excited to have the Bear Lake Monster Cardboard Boat Regatta again this year! Sign up now to enter your vessel made entirely of cardboard into this FUN race. It is $30 per entry which includes 1 Winterfest hoodie. Awards will be given for the most creative design, the “prettiest” boat, and more! Enter soon, only 30 slots available!

The race will take place in waves and will be assigned at check-in. Age categories will be assigned at check-in.

Build your boat at home and bring it, or come build your boat Friday night between 5-8pm at Sunrise Resort. Cardboard & Duct Tape will be provided.

The Winterfest Village Market will be held at the Bear Lake State Park Marina in Garden City, Utah close to all the winterfest activities.  There will be a large tent with walls and heaters for indoor vendors and space for a few outdoor vendors.

The marina will be open to set up booths at 8:30 AM on Saturday (although you can set things up after 6pm on Friday, but you must secure your own things).  We ask that all booths are set up and completed by 10 AM. The market will run from 10 AM to 4 PM. We ask that you do not tear down before 4 pm.

Monster Plunge

Saturday at Utah State Park Marina

11am – 12:30pm – Check-in
1:00pm – Costume parade & Judging then plunging
“Go jump in a lake!” and help raise funds for The Family Place charity located in Garden City.

Costumes highly encouraged as there will be various prizes for groups and individuals. $35 per jumper includes an event hoodie for pre-plunge online registration.

Every vehicle entering the marina will get a raffle ticket.

Incremental tickets can be purchase Friday night at Sunrise Resort or day of at the marina.
